Research at the Marine Science Institute is ensuring that there are plenty of fish in the sea for future generations. Our researchers were the first to spawn red drum, flounder, speckled trout, croaker and cobia in captivity - enabling Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s fish restocking program. Scientists are continuing that work to better understand how flounder pass nutrients from mother to egg and spawning patterns of sea trout and other sport fish.
