Congratulations Sara Garcia and Andrew Kang! Sara and Andrew were Semester-by-the-Sea students last spring at UTMSI. Sara just won first place by the North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA) and third place by the American Salvage Association Education Committee in their annual Marine Science Competition for her paper on “Sublethal Effects of Crude Oil and Chemical dispersant on Swimming Behavior of Barnacle Nauplii.” Andrew won third place from NAMEPA and second place by the American Salvage Association for his paper on “Effects of Oil Concentration on the Microbial Degradation in Alkanes in Crude Oil in Seawater.”
