The Patton Center for Marine Science Education is a vibrant hub for exploring local marine ecosystems. With eight large aquaria, interactive displays, keeper chats, and fish-feeding demonstrations, visitors of all ages can learn about marine life and UTMSI’s research.
The Center also features adjacent walking trails, such as the Wetlands Education Center and the Water Wise Wildlife Garden, which showcase native plants that support local wildlife.

The Wetlands Education Center, or “Windows to the Sea,” is a 3.5-acre marsh and wetland located near the South Jetty. Landscaped with coastal vegetation and nourished by the Aransas Pass Ship Channel, it features a boardwalk for observing migratory and resident marsh birds.
Explore how wetlands support the coastal zone’s productivity, protect area bays and the Gulf of Mexico, and act as natural buffers by reducing storm surges and erosion.
