Putting For Purpose Raises Money for Reserve

PuttingForPurpose2 The Port of Corpus Christi's annual Putting for a Purpose Golf Tournament with all proceeds benefiting the Mission-Aransas Reserve was held at the North Shore Country Club the last weekend of October. The event raised $10,950 for the Mission-Aransas Reserve. “We are honored to be chosen as the honorees of this year’s tournament. The proceeds from the tournament will help us recover from Hurricane Harvey damages and help us continue to provide research expertise as well as education, training, and stewardship programs to the Coastal Bend region,” said Jace Tunnell, Mission-Aransas Reserve Director.

Sally Palmer is the Communications Coordinator for The University of Texas Marine Science Institute. She received a bachelor of science in marine biology from the University of Rhode Island and earned a masters degree in marine science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. Prior to her position handling communications, Sally served as the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve Manager. She also has research experience with benthic ecology, hypoxia, and ecosystem dynamics. Since 2006, Sally has help secure over $16 million in funding for administration, research and construction of educational facilities.
