The UTMSI Marine Science Education Center promotes Marine Science with self guided tours. Other attractions include seven aquaria displaying typical Texas coastal habitats and the organisms that live in them, including Spartina, black mangrove marsh, oyster reef, open bay bottom, rock jetty and offshore artificial reefs. The Center also contains a Estuary Explorium with 950 square-feet of engaging exhibits that are designed to increase public awareness of the value and transitional nature of the estuarine environment. The Explorium was designed to encourage self-guided exploration of estuaries through the use of interactive exhibits that you can feel, move, and hear.
