Bachelor of Science in Biology: Option III: Marine Science
The B.S. in Biology: Marine Science degree is offered through the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. This degree is offered on the Austin campus and the Department of Marine Science offers several courses that satisfy requirements for this degree program. Below is a summary of the program.
Under this major, students are:
- Required to take 6 credits in residence at the Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas through Semester by the Sea or Intersession.
- Encouraged to enroll in four courses at the Marine Science Institute either by enrolling in Semester by the Sea and/or Intersession courses in Port Aransas.
- Offered the option to register in Marine Science independent study courses in conjunction with directed research (MNS 170 and/or 270) over consecutive fall/spring or summer terms. Only three credits of research may be counted toward to fulfill the 21 hour upper-division course requirement as described under section 19(c) in the Prescribed Work in Option III: Marine Science.
