Sally Palmer is the Communications Coordinator for The University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas. She is a graduate of Flour Bluff High school. Sally attended the University of Rhode Island under a soccer scholarship where she received a bachelor of science degree in marine biology. She earned her masters degree in marine science from the University of Texas at Austin. Sally served as the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve Manager for eight years. Sally has helped secure over $31 million in funding for administration, research and construction of educational facilities.

She stepped down from the manager position into the part-time communications coordinator position in 2014 to spend more time with her small children. Sally’s broad range of experience from marine science; to funding; to management; to interaction with the public give her unique tools for effective communications. Sally currently is involved with project management for hurricane recovery and handles all communications for the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, from social media to distilling science into stories with impact.
