We'd like to wish a heart-felt congratulations to several of our staff for their service to the University. They are all extraordinarily dedicated employees who work hard to provide a valuable service to a wide variety of customers (supervisor, other faculty members, graduate students, undergraduate students, visiting scientists). Heather Herrick, our Marine Science Program Coordinator, received recognition for 10 years of service. Jamey Pelfrey, also one of our Marine Science Program Coordinators, received recognition for 15 years of service, Liz DeHart our librarian received recognition for 20 years of service, and Susan Schonberg, a Research Associate, received recognition for 30 years of service! Their dedicated support enables the university to mentor students and accomplish important research, both of which are making a significant positive impact on our fisheries and coastal ecosystems.
In addition to the staff service award, Jamey Pelfrey also received this year’s The University of Texas President's Outstanding Staff Award for her dedication to promoting advances in research and cultivating a learning atmosphere for the students and staff. Only 30 of these awards given within the entire University and it is quite an honor.
