Teachers and Educators Rediscover Teaching

b2ap3_thumbnail_TMEA2014_04_20140924-203027_1.jpgThis past weekend, local teachers and environmental educators met for two different events at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute. They gained new skills and techniques to help them teach how science can be interesting and fun to learn about. On Saturday, educators in the Gulf STREAMing Teacher Workshop discovered new education tools and resources, and learned about field trips and outreach opportunities. That afternoon, educators also participated in the Texas Marine Education Association Meeting where they practiced hands‐on activities. Participants had the chance to network and relax during an evening dinner and bonfire ‐ with a meeting snuck in. Then on Sunday, the group took a boat ride to San Jose Island for an exploration of the sea life, island features, and to share teaching techniques for their students and audiences.
